O Allah, make our children righteous, those who observe Your limits, and obey You. Make faith beloved to their hearts and adorn their hearts with it, and make disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to them. O Lord, make them rightly guided. O Allah, make them guides who are guided, not straying themselves nor causing others to stray. Make them peaceful towards Your allies and war against Your enemies. Make them beloved to Your allies and Your party. Make them obedient to You, and obedient to their father and mother. And favour them greatly over many of Your creation.

When to Read
This is a beautiful supplication that can be made for your children at any time. It's particularly poignant during the times when duas are readily accepted, such as after Salah, during the last third of the night, between the Adhan and Iqamah, or during blessed times like Ramadan and the days of Hajj. It's a continuous prayer for their well-being in this life and the hereafter.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and heartfelt conviction. Face the Qiblah if possible, and raise your hands as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to do when making dua. Place your hand on your child's head or shoulder if they are present, and repeat the words with a clear understanding of their meaning. The emphasis is on sincerity, persistence, and firm belief in Allah's power to answer.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses comprehensive requests for a child's spiritual and worldly well-being. By asking for righteousness and obedience to Allah, we pray for them to be upright Muslims who uphold Islamic values. Asking for faith to be beloved and disbelief to be hateful ensures their hearts remain firm on the truth. Praying for them to be guides who are guided means seeking for them a path of virtue that benefits themselves and others. Ultimately, it's a plea for them to be among the righteous who will be accepted into Jannah, enjoying Allah's pleasure and favour.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught a companion named Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) a comprehensive dua to recite for his descendants. The full narration often includes requests for the righteous progeny and their guidance. This specific formulation is a well-established supplication for parents aiming for their children's success in both worlds.
