Children
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim, Sunan At-Tirmidhi 2055, 3409

I seek refuge for you both (mother and child) in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye. In the name of Allah. O Lord, make him righteous and obedient, make him thankful for Your blessings, and make him one who sets his affairs right. And grant that he loves Islam and Tawhid (Oneness of Allah), and grant him a pure nature, and make him dutiful to his parents. And protect him, help him, and help him reach the age of maturity.

U'ee-dhukumā bikalimatillāhit-tāmmah, min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmah. Bismillāh, Rabbi-j'alhu barran tafiyyan, wa-j'alhu shākiran li-'ifratika, muṣliḥan li-amrik, wa an tuḥibbahu Musliman Muwaḥḥidan, wa an tazuqqa-hu fiṭratan ṭayyibah, wa an taj'alahu bārran 'alā wālidayhi, wa an taḥfaẓahu wa ta'īnahu wa tuballighahu ṣalāḥa shabābih.

Source & Authentication

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: 'When there was a young girl with them, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: U'ee-dhukumā bikalimatillāhit-tāmmah, min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmah. (I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.)' [Sahih Muslim 2055] Al-Tirmidhi narrated in Sunan At-Tirmidhi (3409) that when a child was born to Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), he named him Al-Mundhir. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: 'May Allah bless him for you, and make him righteous.' Then Abu Talhah asked him to teach him a dua, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Say: Allahumma inni u'ee-dhuhu bika wa dhurriyyatahu min ash-shayṭānir-rajīm (O Allah, I seek refuge in You and his offspring from the accursed Satan).' Then he recited: 'Bismillāh, Rabbi-j'alhu barran tafiyyan, wa-j'alhu shākiran li-'ifratika, muṣliḥan li-amrik, wa an tuḥibbahu Musliman Muwaḥḥidan, wa an tazuqqa-hu fiṭratan ṭayyibah, wa an taj'alahu bārran 'alā wālidayhi, wa an taḥfaẓahu wa ta'īnahu wa tuballighahu ṣalāḥa shabābih.' (In the name of Allah. O Lord, make him righteous and obedient, make him thankful for Your blessings, and make him one who sets his affairs right. And grant that he loves Islam and Tawhid (Oneness of Allah), and grant him a pure nature, and make him dutiful to his parents. And protect him, help him, and help him reach the age of maturity.)
