My Lord, grant me from among the righteous [offspring].

When to Read

This powerful supplication is beautifully encapsulated in the Quran, recited by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he prayed for righteous children. We can make this a regular part of our prayers, especially during the challenging teenage years of our children. Recite it after every obligatory prayer (salah), during voluntary night prayers (qiyam), or any time you raise your hands in supplication. It's a reminder to turn to Allah as our children navigate the complexities of adolescence.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, visualizing your children growing into righteous individuals. It's best to make dua with firm belief that Allah will accept it. Raising your hands is a sunnah when making dua, and facing the Qiblah is also recommended. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible. Repeat the dua a few times for emphasis, just as the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ taught us.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is directly from the Quran, the words of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). It's a profound prayer for righteous offspring, which is a source of joy and comfort in this life and the hereafter. Righteous children are a form of ongoing charity (*sadaqah jariyah*) whose good deeds continue to benefit their parents even after they have passed away. By asking Allah for righteous children, we are asking for our children to be guided, to be upright in character, and to be a source of good in the world, which ultimately brings immense blessings to our lives and the lives of others.
