O Allah, I ask You to make my children righteous and to protect them from the accursed Satan. O Allah, I seek refuge for them in Your might from the accursed Satan.

When to Read
This dua is perfect for reciting during times when you are concerned about your child's spiritual or mental well-being, or when facing challenges. It's also beautiful to make it a regular practice after your obligatory prayers, or before sleeping, asking Allah to safeguard them. Think about reciting it when you see them embarking on a new phase, like starting school, or when they are facing tests and trials.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincere intention and a heart full of hope in Allah's mercy. Raise your hands as you would during supplication. Imagine Allah's protective gaze upon your children as you recite. You can recite it for your own children, or for the children of other Muslims, extending the benefit. It is especially potent when recited during the times when Allah Almighty descends to the lowest heaven, which is the last third of the night, or during the sacred months.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly invokes Allah's protection and guidance for your children, asking for their righteousness and shielding them from Satan's whispers and influence. It acknowledges our reliance on Allah for their soundness of mind and spirit, a precious gift. By seeking refuge in Allah's might, we are entrusting our children to the most secure of guardians. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also taught us to seek refuge for children. He would say: > **Arabic:** أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ > **Translation:** "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created." > **Transliteration:** *A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq* > — Sahih Muslim 2708 This shows the importance of seeking divine protection for them against all forms of harm.

Abdullah bin 'Amr narrated that the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) used to teach them the supplication to say in case of falling asleep or waking up: 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His slaves, and from the whisperings of the devils, and from their presence.' (Sahih) The hadith is recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud (5063), Sunan At-Tirmidhi (3391), and Sunan Ibn Majah (3871), with slight variations in wording, and is considered Hasan by scholars.
