Dua for Children's Success in Finding a Suitable Spouse

Children
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2722

O Allah, grant my soul its taqwa (consciousness of You) and purify it, for You are the Best Purifier. You are its Guardian and its Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not fear (You), from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a dua' that is not answered.

Allahumma ati nafsi taqwaha, wa zakkiha anta khayru man zakkaha, anta waliyyuha wa mawlaha. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'ilmin la yanfa', wa min qalbin la yakhsha', wa min nafsil la tashba', wa min du'a'in la yusma'.

When to Read

This dua is profoundly comprehensive and can be recited during times when you are seeking guidance and protection for your children, particularly as they reach the age where marriage becomes a consideration. Recite it during your daily prayers, in the last third of the night, or during any moment of earnest supplication.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart, focusing on the meaning of each phrase. It is best to raise your hands slightly, as is customary during supplication, and face the Qiblah if possible. Believe in Allah's ability to answer your prayers and trust in His divine plan for your children.

Virtues & Benefits

While this specific dua is a general supplication for seeking good, its inclusion of seeking protection from unbeneficial knowledge, a fearful heart, a never-satisfied soul, and unanswered prayers indirectly aids in finding a righteous spouse. A person guided by beneficial knowledge, possessing a heart that fears Allah, and a contented soul is more likely to make wise decisions in marriage. Furthermore, a dua that is accepted by Allah will bring goodness in all aspects of life, including the crucial decision of a spouse.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Zayd ibn Arqam that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say: 'O Allah, grant my soul its taqwa (consciousness of You) and purify it, for You are the Best Purifier. You are its Guardian and its Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not fear (You), from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a dua' that is not answered.'
