Children
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5074

O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and secure me from the things that frighten me. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being taken from beneath me.

Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fi dunyaya wa akhirati. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal 'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfadhni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi, wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi 'adhamatika an ughtala min tahti.

Recite it with sincerity when making dua for them after prayers, before sleeping, or at any moment you feel concerned about their spiritual and moral strength. It's also beneficial to teach this dua to your children so they can recite it for themselves.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua encapsulates a profound request for holistic well-being. By asking for 'afiyah, we are asking Allah to shield our children from all forms of harm – physical, emotional, spiritual, and social. This includes protection from negative peer pressure, bad company, and anything that could lead them astray. The comprehensive nature of the dua covers protection from all directions and even from being 'taken from beneath,' signifying comprehensive security. This seeking of 'afiyah is a vital shield against the unseen harms and the visible tests of life.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) never failed to recite these supplications when he was evening and when he was morning: 'O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and secure me from the things that frighten me. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being taken from beneath me.'
