O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and comfort my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your Greatness lest I be destroyed from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfadhni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi 'adhamatika an ughtala min tahti.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua for protection, including protection of family and oneself, can be recited daily, especially in the morning. It's particularly relevant when considering the influences children are exposed to. Recite it with sincere intention for your children's spiritual and worldly well-being, asking Allah to shield them from anything that could lead them astray.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus. It is recommended to raise your hands slightly while making dua, as is the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. You can blow gently into your hands after reciting and wipe them over your children, or over yourself if reciting for yourself or your family collectively. Imagine Allah's protection surrounding your children as you make this supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a broad request for Allah's protection and well-being. By asking for 'Afiyah (well-being/safety), you are seeking protection from all forms of harm, both physical and spiritual. This directly applies to shielding children from the potentially harmful effects of unchecked entertainment and distractions, asking Allah to keep them steadfast on the right path and away from fitnah (temptation/strife). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described this dua as encompassing all of a person's requests for well-being.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate: 'O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and comfort my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your Greatness lest I be destroyed from beneath me.' (Sahih, Narrated by Ibn Majah and Abu Dawud. Al-Tirmidhi has a similar wording and states it is Sahih Hasan).
