In the name of Allah. O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and accepted deeds. O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment. O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, keep me alive as long as You know life is good for me, and cause me to die when You know death is good for me. O Allah, I ask You to make me fear You, whether in private or in public. I ask You to let me speak the truth in times of contentment and anger. I ask You to make me moderate in poverty and wealth. I ask You for blessings that never cease, and for eyes that are never satisfied. I ask You to make me pleased with Your decree, and for a life of ease after death. I ask You for the delight of looking at Your Face, and the longing to meet You. I seek refuge in You from harmful hardship and from misleading deviation.

When to Read
This comprehensive dua is perfect for reciting before your children begin their exams, or even during their study period. You can teach it to them to recite themselves, or recite it for them. It's also beneficial to make this dua in general for them, especially during times of challenge and importance like exams, asking Allah to grant them understanding, ease, and protection.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and focus, understanding the meaning of each request. If you are teaching it to your children, encourage them to recite it with conviction. The etiquette of dua includes raising your hands (though not strictly necessary for all duas), facing the Qiblah if possible, and beginning with the Basmalah (Bismillah). Praying for oneself or one's children is a beautiful act of seeking Allah's help and wisdom.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his daughter Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and his cousin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), encapsulates a holistic request for well-being. It seeks beneficial knowledge, pure sustenance, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. It asks for inner strength (guidance, piety, chastity) and contentment, crucial for facing challenges. The latter part of the dua is a profound supplication for a life guided by Allah's will, seeking His pleasure, and protection from all forms of harm and misguidance. For exams, it specifically asks for clarity of mind, the ability to recall what has been studied, and the strength to perform well, all while seeking Allah's ultimate decree.

Narrated Ali: A beggar came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked him for something. He (the Prophet) said: "I have nothing." He then said: "O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, making me independent of all save You." The narrator said: The Prophet then said to his companions: "Shall I not teach you something which, if you say it, will suffice you for the mountains of debt?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Say: (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, making me independent of all save You)." Then a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, a man who is asked to give charity but has no wealth, and is asked to lend but has no money, and is asked to spend but has no possessions; what should he do?" He said: "He should say: (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, making me independent of all save You)." Then a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about the one who is asked about knowledge but has no knowledge, and is asked about the religion but has no knowledge of the religion?" He said: "He should say: (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, making me independent of all save You)." Then a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about the one who is asked about knowledge but has no knowledge, and is asked about the religion but has no knowledge of the religion?" He said: "He should say: O Allah, indeed I ask You for knowledge that is pleasing to You and that which You teach me. O Allah, bestow upon me beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and accepted deeds. Then he said: O Allah, grant me guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment. Then he said: O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, keep me alive as long as You know life is good for me, and cause me to die when You know death is good for me.
