O Allah, forgive me all my sins, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the apparent and the hidden, the intentional and the mistaken. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the loss of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not fear You, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered. My Lord, grant me righteous offspring.
Allahumma ighfir li dhanbi kullah, diqqahu wa jillahu, awwalahu wa akhirahu, 'alaniyatahu wa sirrahu, qissahu wa khata'ahu. Allahumma a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuji'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'ilmin la yanfa', wa min qalbin la yakhsha', wa min nafsin la tashba', wa min du'a'in la yusma'. Rabb hab li minas salihin.
When to Read
This comprehensive supplication can be made at any time, but it's particularly poignant when praying for your children. Imagine yourself making this dua during the deep stillness of Tahajjud, or after offering your Fard prayers, perhaps even while holding your child close. It's a powerful moment to ask Allah for their well-being, not just physically, but spiritually too.
How to Read
Begin with sincerity and a pure intention. Face the Qiblah if possible, and raise your hands in supplication, mirroring the Prophet's ﷺ practice. Start with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ. Recite this dua with focus, contemplating its meaning. After reciting, you can add specific personal duas for your children's protection, guidance, and success in this life and the next. End with 'Ameen' and wipe your hands over your face as taught by the Prophet ﷺ.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates seeking Allah's forgiveness for ourselves, which is a prerequisite for making accepted supplications for others. It then delves into seeking refuge from various forms of harm, both worldly and spiritual. The core of this supplication, 'Rabb hab li minas salihin' (My Lord, grant me righteous offspring), is a direct request for children who will be a source of joy and comfort in this life and the hereafter. Righteous children are a sadaqah jariyah (ongoing charity) for their parents, benefiting them even after their passing.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate: 'O Allah, forgive me all my sins, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the apparent and the hidden, the intentional and the mistaken. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the loss of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not fear You, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.' He would then say: 'O Allah, grant me in my (life) in this world that which is good and in the hereafter that which is good and guard me against the torment of the Fire.' (This part is from Sahih Muslim 2720, but the section regarding children is implied as part of the general comprehensive prayer for well-being and righteous progeny that a parent would make). The specific phrase 'Rabb hab li minas salihin' is from the Quran (Surah As-Saffat, 37:100), and is the supplication of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was granted a son in old age.
