اللَّهُمَّ أَطْلِقْ بِعِلْمِكَ لِسَانَ ابْنِي وَابْنَتِي، وَطَيِّبْ بِفِقْهِكَ مَنْطِقَهُمَا، وَاجْعَلْهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ.
O Allah, by Your knowledge, loosen my son's and daughter's tongues; and by Your understanding, purify their speech; and make them among Your righteous servants.
Allahumma atliq bi-'ilmika lisana ibni wa ibnati, wa tayyib bifiqhika mantiqahuma, waj'alhumā min 'ibādikas salihīn.
When to Read
This dua is beautiful to recite for your children at any time, but especially: - After each obligatory prayer. - When you see them struggling with learning or understanding Islamic teachings. - As they are preparing to sleep, asking Allah to guide their hearts and minds. - During times of seeking knowledge, like before they start school or a study session. How to Read
With sincerity and conviction, direct this supplication to Allah. Facing the Qiblah is recommended when making dua. Raise your hands in the manner the Prophet ﷺ taught us, and begin with Praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ. Utter the words clearly, with hope in Allah's response. It's most powerful when made during the times when Allah is most likely to accept dua, such as the last third of the night, between the Adhan and Iqamah, or on a Friday. You can also gently blow on your children after reciting, as it is reported the Prophet ﷺ did for Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).
