Children
QuranQuran 14:40

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ

My Lord, establish prayer for me and my offspring. Our Lord, accept my supplication.

*Rabbij'alni muqeemas-salati wa min dhurriyyati, rabbana wa taqabbal du'a'*

When to Read

This is a beautiful and comprehensive dua from the Quran itself, taught by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). It's perfect to recite at any time, especially after your obligatory prayers (salat) or during the blessed times like the last third of the night. You can also make this dua specifically for your children during the times when supplications are more likely to be answered, such as between the adhan and iqamah, or on Laylatul Qadr.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a heartfelt conviction that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has the power to guide your children. Visualize your children growing up to love and cherish prayer and the Quran. You can place your hand on your chest while making the dua, focusing your intention on your children's spiritual well-being. It's also beneficial to regularly recite it and to set a good example yourself by consistently performing prayer and engaging with the Quran.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound request for both personal and familial devotion. By asking Allah to make 'me' and 'my offspring' establishers of prayer, we seek to raise children who not only perform salah but also embody its spirit – discipline, mindfulness, and remembrance of Allah. The second part, 'Our Lord, accept my supplication,' is a humble plea that our earnest efforts and prayers are acknowledged and answered by Allah. This dua is a cornerstone for building a righteous lineage that continues to uphold the deen.
