Make it a regular part of your supplications, especially after Salah, or at times when you're making personal dua. You can also recite it over your children directly, blowing gently with saliva (after reciting Ayatul Kursi and the Mu'awwidhatayn, for protection) and wiping their foreheads, asking Allah to make them joyful in His obedience.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and conviction, envisioning your children growing up to be devout and joyful in their connection with Allah. Understand that this dua is a request from a Prophet, a testament to the importance of righteous offspring. By asking Allah to grant you righteous children, you are seeking His help in raising them to be a source of good for themselves, your family, and the Ummah.
Virtues & Benefits
Asking Allah for righteous children is a prophetic practice that ensures the continuation of good. When children are raised with joy in obedience, they become a source of comfort and blessing in this life and the next. This dua directly asks Allah to grant you children who embody righteousness, which naturally leads them to find pleasure in worship, good deeds, and following the Sunnah. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When a person dies, all their deeds end except for three: an ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.' (Sahih Muslim 1631). Cultivating joy in obedience within our children ensures they can become that 'righteous child' who benefits us even after we are gone.
