اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْنِي الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ
O Allah, teach me the Book and wisdom.
Allahumma 'allimni al-kitaba wal-hikmah
When to Read
This dua is excellent to recite when your child is young, or at any stage when you wish to instill a love for knowledge and the Quran. You can make it a regular practice during times of supplication, like after prayers, or specifically when encouraging your child to read or study.
How to Read
Recite this with sincere intention for your child's benefit. You can say it yourself, or teach it to your child to say. Focus on the meaning and ask Allah to open their hearts and minds to the beauty of learning and the wisdom found in His revelations and the Sunnah.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Allah, teach him wisdom.' Then he mentioned a similar narration and said: 'O Allah, teach him the Book (Al-Kitab).' Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah, increase him in knowledge of the religion." It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Allah, teach him Al-Hikmah (wisdom).' This was said to Ibn 'Abbas.
