Dua for Children to be Protective Siblings

Children
Sahih Hadith

O Allah, make them love each other, and provide them with Your kindness and gentleness, protect them from the evil of the envious, and make them among the helpers of the Deen.

Allahumma ij'alhumā mutaḥābbīn, warzuqhumā luṭfaka wa rifqaka, wakfihimā sharr al-ḥāsidīn, waj'alhumā min anṣār ad-dīn.

When to Read

This dua can be recited at any time, but it's particularly poignant to make it during moments of reflection, after prayers (especially Fajr and Isha), or when you see your children interacting, whether they are playing together harmoniously or experiencing a minor disagreement. You can also recite it when tucking them into bed, asking Allah to bless their bond overnight.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and heartfelt supplication. Direct your focus towards Allah (SWT), visualizing your children growing up with a strong, loving, and protective bond. Raise your hands in the customary manner of dua. You can place your hands on your children's heads while making dua for them, or direct the dua towards them from a distance. Aim for consistency; making this a regular part of your supplications can significantly influence their relationship.

Virtues & Benefits

The primary benefit of this dua is seeking Allah's (SWT) intervention in fostering a lifelong bond of love, care, and protection between siblings. Siblings can be a source of immense support and comfort throughout life's journey. By asking Allah to grant them mutual love (mutaḥābbīn), kindness (luṭf), and gentleness (rifq), we're asking for the very qualities that build strong relationships. Protection from envy (sharr al-ḥāsidīn) is crucial, as jealousy can erode even the closest bonds. Finally, asking them to be helpers of the Deen encourages them to grow as righteous individuals who contribute positively to the community. The Quran reminds us of the value of family and companionship: "And those who came after them say, 'Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and do not place in our hearts hatred for those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.'" (Al-Hashr 59:10).
