When to Read

This powerful dua is perfect for reciting daily to protect your children from all forms of harm, including the everyday dangers found within the home like fire, electricity, and sharp objects. It's especially recommended to say it in the morning and evening, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us about seeking Allah's protection at the start and end of the day.

How to Read

When reciting this dua for your children, you can gently place your hands on their heads and blow softly on them, a practice derived from the Prophet's ﷺ own actions when making dua for others. You can also simply recite it and make sincere supplication to Allah for their safety, asking Him to shield them with His divine protection. It is vital to have conviction in Allah's power and His response to our sincere prayers.

This dua is a comprehensive shield against all creation's evils. By seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words, we are invoking His ultimate power to safeguard us and our loved ones. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, 'Whoever says this (the above dua) three times in the morning, will not be afflicted by any calamity until he enters the evening, and whoever says it three times in the evening, will not be afflicted by any calamity until he wakes up in the morning.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). This indicates the immense blessing and protection that comes from reciting this supplication regularly for ourselves and our children.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! What has gotten me through tonight?' He said: 'A scorpion stung him.' He said: 'Shall I not teach you some words to say when you go to bed, or when you wake up? If you say them, it will not harm you.' The people asked: 'O Messenger of Allah! What are they?' He said: 'Seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.'
