Children
Hasan HadithJami' at-Tirmidhi 2140

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.

Ya Muqallibal-quloob, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik.

When to Read

The Prophet ﷺ himself frequently recited this powerful dua, seeking steadfastness in faith. For our children, we want to instill this core understanding from an early age. Parents can recite this dua *for* their children, asking Allah to firm their children's hearts upon Islam, which inherently includes a deep love for His Messenger ﷺ. Children themselves should be taught to recite it daily, perhaps after salah, during moments of personal reflection, or whenever they seek spiritual strength and guidance. It's a supplication suitable for any time one desires a stronger connection to their faith.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity, conviction, and full understanding of its profound meaning. When making this dua for your children, you are asking Allah to ground their hearts in His religion. While the original wording uses 'qalbi' (my heart), it is completely permissible and effective to make this dua with the intention for your children. You can also subtly adapt the wording to 'qalbahu' (his heart), 'qalbaha' (her heart), or 'qulubahum' (their hearts) if you wish, though the essence remains the same: a plea for steadfastness in faith. Teach your children the meaning as they learn to recite it, helping them grasp the deep reliance on Allah and the importance of holding fast to His way.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, taught and recited by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, offers immense benefits, particularly in fostering a profound love for him and his teachings: 1. **Steadfastness in Islam:** It is a direct appeal to Allah, the Changer of hearts, to keep one's heart firmly rooted in the true religion. This firmness is the foundation upon which all aspects of faith, including love for the Prophet ﷺ, are built. 2. **Protection from Deviation:** In a world filled with distractions and doubts, this dua serves as a spiritual shield, asking Allah to protect the heart from wavering, misguidance, and tribulations. 3. **Foundation for Prophetic Love:** A heart that is truly firm upon Allah's religion will naturally develop an abiding and profound love for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. His Sunnah is the practical embodiment of Allah's religion, and loving him is an intrinsic part of complete faith. The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you will have faith until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all mankind." (Sahih al-Bukhari 15). By asking Allah to firm the heart upon His religion, we are essentially asking for this complete faith, which necessitates a deep love for the Prophet ﷺ. 4. **Embodiment of Prophetic Character:** Steadfastness in faith leads to a desire to emulate the best of creation, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This means adopting his excellent character and following his guidance in daily life, which is the truest expression of love for him.
