In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillāhilladhī lā yaḍurru maʿasmihi shayʾun fīl-arḍi wa lā fis-samāʾi waHuwas-Samīʿul-ʿAlīm

When to Read

This powerful dua is for seeking Allah's protection for your child, especially when they are near water or in situations where accidental harm might occur. Recite it before a child enters a swimming pool, bathtub, sea, or any body of water. It's also beneficial to recite it generally for their safeguarding throughout the day, particularly before they embark on journeys or engage in activities that might carry risks.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and complete reliance on Allah. It is recommended to blow gently onto the child after reciting it, placing your hand on their head or the affected area. Repeating it three times in the morning and three times in the evening, as per the Sunnah, offers comprehensive protection. Maintain a state of purity and focus on the meaning of the words, understanding that Allah alone is the Protector.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication carries immense protection by invoking Allah's name. When a person says this three times in the morning, nothing will harm them until the evening. If they say it three times in the evening, nothing will harm them until the morning. Protecting a child through this dua is a way of fulfilling our parental duty to seek Allah's shield for them, trusting in His divine care and providence against all dangers, including drowning.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah bin Ghannam Al-Ansari that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever says in the morning: 'Allahumma ma asbaḥa bi min niʿmatin aw bi aḥadin min khalqika fa minka waḥdaka lā sharīka lak, fa lakal-ḥamdu wa lakash-shukr' (O Allah, whatever blessing has been bestowed upon me or any of Your creation this morning is from You alone, with no partner. To You is all praise and to You is all thanks), he has indeed expressed his thanks for that day. And whoever says this in the evening, he has indeed expressed his thanks for that night.' And he said: 'Whoever says: 'Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardhi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim' (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing), he will not be afflicted by sudden affliction until morning comes, and if he says it in the morning, he will not be afflicted by sudden affliction until evening comes.'
