Finding Direction: Dua for Inner Peace When Lost

Anxiety & Distress
Sahih HadithSunan Ibn Majah, Sahih Muslim 3843 (Ibn Majah), 7:11 (Muslim)

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

Recite this dua in the morning. It's especially powerful when you feel adrift, unsure of your path, or when the weight of life's decisions feels overwhelming. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to ask Allah for these three crucial things at the start of the day, setting a foundation for guidance and purpose.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and firm belief in Allah's response. Raise your hands if you feel the need, facing the Qiblah. Understand that asking for 'beneficial knowledge' means seeking that which guides you to Allah, 'goodly provision' means sustenance that is pure and blessed, and 'acceptable deeds' are those done for His sake alone.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is a comprehensive request for the tools needed to navigate life purposefully. Beneficial knowledge illuminates the path, goodly provision removes worldly distractions and allows focus on worship, and acceptable deeds are our ultimate currency in the hereafter. When we feel lost, asking for these helps Allah guide our steps and intentions.
