โœฆ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the passing away of Your blessings, and the reversal of the wellness You granted, and the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that which displeets You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of affliction, and the attainment of misery, and evil decree, and the rejoicing of enemies. O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all affairs, and determination in following the right path, and I ask You for the things that necessitate Your mercy and the means that secure Your forgiveness. And I ask You for the gratitude for Your favors and excellence in Your worship. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the good of that which You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of that which You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for all that You know. Verily, You are the Knower of the unseen.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala', wa darakish-shaqa', wa su'il-qada', wa shamatatil-a'da'. Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabata fil-amr, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka mujibati rahmatik, wa hawazima maghfiratik, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matik, wa husna 'ibadatik, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan sadiqan, wa as'aluka min khayri ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma ta'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima ta'lam, innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyoob.

When to Read

It's particularly useful during times of uncertainty, stress, or when you feel your faith wavering under pressure. Make it a regular part of your morning and evening remembrance (dhikr) to build resilience.

How to Read

This dua is best recited with sincerity and a humble heart, ideally after your obligatory prayers or during periods of quiet reflection. Raise your hands as you do when making dua, face the Qiblah if possible, and focus on the meaning of each phrase. Repeat it multiple times if needed, truly embodying the seeking of Allah's refuge and support.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful shield against spiritual and worldly distress. By seeking refuge in Allah from the 'hardship of affliction' (jahdil-bala') and 'misery' (darakish-shaqa'), we are asking for protection from difficulties that can break us. Asking for 'steadfastness' (thabat) and 'determination' (azimah) equips us to face trials with resolve. It also encompasses asking for Allah's mercy and forgiveness, acknowledging our need for His grace in all circumstances.

It was narrated from Abdullah bin Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, during the Tashahhud: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala', wa darakish-shaqa', wa su'il-qada', wa shamatatil-a'da'. Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabata fil-amr, wal-'azeemata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka mujibati rahmatik, wa hawazima maghfiratik, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matik, wa husna 'ibadatik, wa as'aluka qalban saleeman, wa lisaanan sadiqan, wa as'aluka min khayri ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma ta'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima ta'lam, innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyoob.'
