أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.
A'udhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajeem
When to Read
This is a fundamental response when you feel anger rising, especially if it's leading to disturbing thoughts that question Allah or His attributes. Recognize the whisper of Shaytan, say this seeking Allah's protection, and then consciously shift your focus away from the anger and the whispers.
How to Read
Recite this with sincerity and a genuine turning towards Allah for protection. Understand that anger is a natural human emotion, but allowing it to fester and lead to sinful thoughts or disbelief is where Shaytan exploits us. The act of seeking refuge is a powerful declaration of faith and reliance on Allah's power to shield you.
Virtues & Benefits
This simple yet profound act directly counters the insidious whispers of Shaytan. By seeking refuge in Allah, you are activating His divine protection. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this specific action to repel Shaytan's influence when he tries to sow discord and disbelief, especially during moments of emotional vulnerability like anger. It’s a reminder that Allah is our ultimate protector against all forms of evil, seen and unseen.
