اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ وَهَمْزِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed devil, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minash-shaytanir-rajim wa hamzihi wa nafkhhi wa naftih
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when you feel the heat of anger rising, especially when you've been unjustly attacked with slander or gossip. It's a shield against the whispers that fuel resentment and the urges that lead to an uncontrolled outburst. Before you even respond to the slander, take a moment to turn to Allah with this supplication.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus. It's recommended to blow gently (not spitting saliva) to your left side three times after reciting. This physical act is symbolic of repelling the devil's influence from your heart and mind, helping you regain composure and clarity. Imagine yourself actively pushing away the negative thoughts and impulses that slander often brings.
Virtues & Benefits
Anger is a fire that can consume good deeds, and slander is a venom that poisons relationships. Seeking refuge in Allah from the devil, the instigator of such ills, is a wise and effective strategy. This dua helps to cleanse the heart from the immediate sting of insult and prevents the escalation of anger, which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned is a great danger. By remembering Allah and seeking His protection, we empower ourselves to respond with patience and wisdom rather than impulsive reaction, thus preserving our deen and our peace.
