Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.
Subhanakallāhumma wa biḥamdika, ash-hadu an lā ilāha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa atūbu ilayk.

Virtues & Benefits
This dua, often referred to as the 'Dua of the Gathering' (Kaffaratul Majlis), is a profound supplication. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever says these words in a gathering will have them forgiven, whatever they may have been.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 1516). When directed towards seeking forgiveness for wrongdoing, especially after a lapse in conduct towards someone deserving of respect like a teacher, it serves as a direct plea to Allah for pardon and purification.
Source & Authentication
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever sits in a gathering and therein talks too much, and before leaving it, says: Subhanakallāhumma wa biḥamdika, ash-hadu an lā ilāha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa atūbu ilayk. (Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.)' Then it will be an expiation for whatever took place in that gathering. (Sunan Abi Dawud 1516, graded Hasan by Al-Albani). While the context of this hadith is general expiation for a gathering, its core message of seeking forgiveness and repentance applies powerfully to specific transgressions, including angry outbursts.
