When to Read

This dua is recommended to be recited upon waking up in the morning, but its essence of asking for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and accepted deeds is relevant throughout the day and night. For night-time, reflecting on this dua before sleeping can set a positive intention for one's spiritual state upon waking, and for the potential good deeds one might undertake if awakened during the night.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely with the intention of seeking Allah's help for these three vital aspects of a Muslim's life. It is best to say it with a present heart, reflecting on the meaning of each request.

Virtues & Benefits

This concise yet powerful dua encapsulates three of the most important requests a believer can make: seeking knowledge that benefits them in this life and the next, asking for provision that is lawful and pure, and praying for their deeds to be accepted by Allah. Accepted deeds are those performed with sincere intention for Allah's sake, in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. Asking for these things before engaging in or reflecting upon actions, especially those that might occur during the night like voluntary prayers or remembrance of Allah, lays the foundation for a life pleasing to our Creator.
