اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ رُؤْيَةَ نَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي المَنَامِ
O Allah, I ask You for the vision of Your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in a dream.
Allahumma inni as'aluka ru'yata nabiyyika Muhammadin ﷺ fil-manam
When to Read
This dua is specifically for reciting before sleeping, with the sincere intention of seeking a vision of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in one's dream. It's a personal supplication to Allah, asking for this blessed experience.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction before you go to sleep. Ensure you are in a state of ritual purity (wudu), facing the Qiblah if possible, and have performed your regular prayers and evening remembrance (dhikr). It's also beneficial to read some Quran or specific duas for sleep beforehand.
Virtues & Benefits
The greatest benefit is the immense blessing and spiritual upliftment that comes from seeing the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in a dream. The Prophet ﷺ himself said: 'Whoever sees me in a dream has indeed seen me, for Shaytan does not appear in my form.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6997). This guarantees the authenticity of the vision, and a dream of the Prophet ﷺ is often interpreted as good news and a sign of Allah's favor. While this specific dua is for seeing him, any dream that aligns with his teachings and character is a source of guidance and comfort.
Source & Authentication
Narrated Abu Qatadah: The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever sees me in a dream has indeed seen me, for Satan does not appear in my form.' Sahih al-Bukhari 6997. The dua itself is derived from the general principle of asking Allah for specific desires in supplication. While Ibn Majah 3876 presents the phrasing of the dua, the authenticity of seeing the Prophet ﷺ is established in the Bukhari hadith.
