اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This dua is recited before sleeping. It's a powerful way to end your day, asking Allah for things that will benefit you in this life and the next, including the steadfastness that comes from beneficial knowledge and deeds accepted by Him. It reinforces your intention to live a life pleasing to Allah, even as you enter a state of rest.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity before you lie down to sleep. It is recommended to recite it after remembering Allah and fulfilling any sunnah practices related to sleeping, such as reciting Ayat al-Kursi, Surah Al-Baqarah's last two verses, and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas). Utter it with a clear intention and a hopeful heart.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses seeking three crucial elements for a righteous life: beneficial knowledge ('ilman naafi'an) which guides us to do what is right; goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) which sustains us and can be used for good; and acceptable deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) which are performed with sincerity and in accordance with the Sunnah, earning Allah's pleasure. By asking for these, particularly as we transition into sleep, we are essentially asking Allah to keep our hearts and minds focused on what matters, ensuring our connection to Islam remains strong even in unconsciousness.
