In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i, wa Huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem.

When to Read

This powerful dua is for protection against any harm, and it's particularly beneficial to recite before sleep. For expecting mothers, reciting this regularly, especially as childbirth approaches, can bring peace of mind and seek Allah's safeguarding over both mother and baby during the critical moments of labor and delivery, as well as for peaceful sleep throughout the pregnancy and after birth. It's a general protection dua that encompasses sleep and safety.

How to Read

Recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening to seek Allah's protection. When reciting before sleep, ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, and make a sincere intention for the safety and ease of childbirth for yourself or the expectant mother, and for the protection of both during their sleep. Imagine Allah's boundless care enveloping you and your little one.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a means of immense protection. He ﷺ stated that whoever recites this three times in the morning and three times in the evening will not be afflicted by any sudden calamity. This includes protection during sleep, which is a vulnerable state, and by extension, can extend to the delicate period of childbirth, asking Allah to ward off any difficulties or harm for both mother and child. It fosters reliance on Allah and cultivates a sense of inner peace.

Usman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'He who says: 'Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i, wa Huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem' (In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) three times, will not be afflicted by any calamity suddenly. And when morning overtakes him, he is not to be afflicted by calamity for the rest of the day, and when evening overtakes him, he is not to be afflicted by calamity for the rest of the night.'
