When to Read

This dua is a powerful supplication for anyone feeling their faith waver, struggling with recurring sins, or sensing a spiritual decline. It's especially vital during times of personal weakness, temptation, or when facing inner turmoil that pulls you away from Allah's path. Recite it frequently, particularly after obligatory prayers, or whenever you feel a shift in your heart's inclination.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere sincerity and humility, recognizing your utter dependence on Allah (SWT). Understand that our hearts are in His hands, and only He can guide and keep them firm. Utter the words with conviction, visualizing your heart being anchored to the deen and repelled from sin. Make it a habit, not just a one-time utterance.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly addresses the core of our spiritual struggle: the heart. By asking Allah to stabilize it on His religion, we seek protection against straying. Asking Him to incline our hearts away from sin is a profound request for divine help in overcoming our lower selves and worldly temptations. It acknowledges that true steadfastness comes only from Allah, fostering a deeper sense of reliance (tawakkul) and humility.

Source & Authentication

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The most frequent supplication of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was: 'O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we have believed in you and in what you brought. Do you fear for us?' He said: 'Yes, the hearts are between the fingers of the Merciful, He turns them however He wills.'
