O Allah, forgive me my sin, all of it, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the open and the secret.
Allahumma-ghfir li dhanbi kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, awwalahu wa akhirahu, 'alaniyatihi wa sirrahu
When to Read
This comprehensive dua is perfect to recite after any prayer, during the night (especially the last third), or at any time you feel the weight of your sins and a longing to purify your heart. It’s particularly poignant when seeking sincere repentance from any form of hypocrisy, whether conscious or subconscious.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heart full of hope in Allah's mercy. Raise your hands in supplication as you do with other duas. Imagine Allah's vast forgiveness encompassing you as you utter these words. Reflect on each part of the dua: acknowledging all types of sins, from the smallest slip to the gravest error, and from the earliest to the latest in your life, as well as those known to others and those hidden even from yourself.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a powerful expression of Tawbah (repentance). By acknowledging the totality of our sins and seeking Allah's forgiveness for them, we actively work towards cleansing our spiritual record. The mention of 'hypocrisy' (implicitly covered by seeking forgiveness for all sins, including hidden ones) is crucial. True repentance involves not just regretting actions but also seeking to rectify our intentions and inner state, removing any pretense or insincerity from our hearts. Allah loves those who turn to Him in repentance, as He says: "Indeed, Allah loves those who are very repentant and loves those who purify themselves." (Al-Baqarah 2:222).

Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ، دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ، أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ، عَلَانِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ. (O Allah, forgive me my sin, all of it, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the open and the secret.)
