اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ مُنْكَرَاتِ الأَخْلاَقِ وَالأَعْمَالِ وَالأَهْوَاءِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disapproved of character, deeds, and desires.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil-akhlaqi wal-a'mali wal-ahwa'i
When to Read
This dua is particularly powerful to recite when you feel yourself being pulled towards sin, or when faced with situations that could lead to temptation from both external sources and your own desires. It’s a proactive way to seek protection and strengthen your resolve, best recited in the morning and evening, or whenever you feel a spiritual lapse.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart, raising your hands as you would for other supplications. Focus on the meaning and the immense power of Allah (SWT) to protect you. Utter the words clearly and reflect on your reliance on Him to guard you from all that is displeasing.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking refuge in Allah from disapproved character, actions, and desires is a crucial step in maintaining one's faith and purity. It acknowledges that true protection comes only from Him. By asking for refuge, we are essentially asking Allah to shield us from the whispers of Shaytan, the bad influences of humans, and the internal weaknesses that might lead us astray. This protects our 'aqeedah (creed) and our adherence to the Sunnah, keeping us on the straight path.
