O Allah, I ask You for faith in You and belief in Your Prophet. I ask You for gratitude for Your blessings, and I ask You for the ability to worship You well. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the best of what You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know. I seek Your forgiveness for what You know. Indeed, You are the Knower of the unseen.
Allahumma inni as'alukal-iman bika wat-tasdiqa binabiyyika, wa as'alukash-shukra 'ala ni'matika, wa as'aluka husna 'ibadatika, wa as'aluka qalban saliman, wa as'aluka lisanan sadiqan, wa as'aluka min khayri ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma ta'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima ta'lam, innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyub.
When to Read
This powerful supplication is especially fitting during Ramadan, a month where our connection to faith is often heightened. Recite it after your obligatory prayers, during the times when duas are more likely to be answered (like between the Adhan and Iqamah, or during the last third of the night), and particularly when you feel the spiritual atmosphere of fasting. It's a moment to pause and ask Allah for the deep, inner conviction that makes our faith a tangible sweetness in our lives.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Begin by acknowledging Allah's greatness and your reliance on Him. Raise your hands, as is the Sunnah for supplication, and recite the Arabic text clearly. Reflect on the meaning of each request – asking for true belief, gratitude, excellent worship, a pure heart, and a truthful tongue. Embrace the sense of reliance on Allah by seeking refuge from evil and asking for His forgiveness. End by recognizing His absolute knowledge.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly asks Allah for the foundational elements of a strong faith: genuine belief in Him and His Messenger, the ability to be grateful for His countless favors, and the strength to worship Him in the best way possible. A 'sound heart' (qalb salim) is one free from doubt, hypocrisy, and malice, which is essential for experiencing the peace and sweetness of faith. A 'truthful tongue' ensures our words reflect our inner conviction. By asking for the 'best of what You know' and seeking refuge from the 'evil of what You know,' we surrender our affairs to Allah's perfect wisdom and protection. Experiencing the 'sweetness of faith' means feeling a deep contentment, joy, and love for Allah that permeates all aspects of life, a feeling amplified during the spiritual intensity of fasting.

The narration states: 'Ask Allah for well-being in this life and the next.' Then it mentions: 'Ask Allah for pardon and well-being in your religion and worldly affairs. O Allah, I ask You for well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my shortcomings and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me. I seek refuge in Your greatness lest I be destroyed from beneath me.' The specific wording of the dua about faith, gratitude, worship, heart, and tongue is found in other narrations, emphasizing these crucial requests. For instance, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to ask for Iman, Tawakkul (reliance), contentment, and good character. This comprehensive dua encapsulates many of these vital requests that lead to the sweetness of faith.
