My Lord, do not leave me alone, though You are the best of inheritors.

Rabbi la tadharni fardan wa anta khayrul waritheen

When to Read

This powerful dua is recited by anyone who is longing for righteous offspring and seeks Allah's (SWT) blessing in having children. It can be made at any time, but is particularly poignant during times of supplication, such as after obligatory prayers, during the night, or whenever one feels the need to connect with Allah (SWT) about this desire.

How to Read

Recite this verse with sincerity, conviction, and a humble heart. Focus on the meaning of the words: acknowledging Allah (SWT) as the ultimate Giver and the best of inheritors, recognizing that all blessings come from Him. It's beautiful to make this dua frequently, especially during the times mentioned in 'When to Read', maintaining hope and trust in Allah's (SWT) perfect plan.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua comes directly from the Noble Quran, narrated when Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) made a fervent supplication to Allah (SWT) after witnessing Maryam's (peace be upon her) sustenance. Allah (SWT) responded to his dua, granting him a righteous son, Yahya (peace be upon him), despite his old age and his wife's barrenness. (See Surah Al-Imran 3:38-41 for the full story). Making this dua is a way to emulate the Prophets (peace be upon them), seeking Allah's (SWT) mercy and provision for children. It reinforces Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) by recognizing Him as the ultimate source of all gifts, including offspring, and the sole inheritor of everything. It's a beautiful expression of dependence on Allah (SWT) and a beautiful reminder of His power to grant wishes, even in seemingly impossible circumstances.
