Quranic Duas
QuranAl-A'raf 7:22

My Lord, indeed I seek refuge in You, lest I ask of You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers.

Rabbī innī a'ūdhu bika an 'as'alaka mā laysa lī bihi 'ilmun wa 'illā taghfir lī wa tarḥamnī 'akun mina al-khāsirīn

When to Read

This profound dua is recited by Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) when he realizes his own fallibility and the immense responsibility of conveying Allah's message. We can draw upon its spirit when we feel overwhelmed, uncertain of our own knowledge, or when facing situations where our own judgment might lead us astray. It is a powerful supplication to make when seeking Allah's guidance and protection from making mistakes due to ignorance or arrogance, especially when dealing with challenging spiritual or ethical matters.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere humility and a deep recognition of your own limitations before Allah. Understand that true strength and success come only from His mercy and forgiveness. Reflect on the gravity of asking Allah for something without proper knowledge and acknowledge your need for His divine wisdom. It's a personal reflection, best recited in a quiet place, perhaps after your obligatory prayers or during times of contemplation.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua beautifully encapsulates the essence of humility and reliance on Allah. By seeking refuge from asking without knowledge, Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) exemplifies the proper adab (etiquette) with our Creator. It teaches us to be mindful of our words and requests, ensuring they are grounded in what is beneficial and permissible. The second part, seeking forgiveness and mercy, highlights our absolute dependence on Allah for success in this life and the hereafter. Reciting it can foster a deeper sense of submission and prevent us from falling into error due to pride or overconfidence.
