رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [also] from my offspring. Our Lord, and accept [this] invocation.
Rabbi ij'alni muqimassalati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du'a'
When to Read
This is a profound prayer that can be recited at any time, especially after completing your obligatory prayers (salawat). It's particularly meaningful to invoke it during times of personal reflection, when seeking guidance for your family, or when you feel a need to strengthen your connection with Allah through prayer. It's also a beautiful dua to make when contemplating the importance of salah in your life and the lives of your loved ones.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, visualizing its meaning. Understand that you are asking Allah to help you not just perform Salah, but to establish it – meaning to be consistent, devout, and to uphold its timings and conditions. Praying for your offspring to be established in Salah is a reflection of the deep concern for their hereafter. Raise your hands as you normally would for dua, and supplicate with humility.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua, taught by Allah Himself to Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), carries immense blessings. 1. **Establishment in Salah:** It asks for the ability to consistently perform prayer with devotion and sincerity, making it a cornerstone of one's life. 2. **Righteous Offspring:** It seeks Allah's blessing for the continuation of this righteous practice within one's lineage, a form of 'sadaqah jariyah' (continuous charity) for the parent. 3. **Acceptance of Supplication:** The latter part, 'Our Lord, and accept [this] invocation,' is a plea for the acceptance of this very dua and all other supplications. This highlights the importance of asking Allah to accept our worship and our prayers. This dua encapsulates the essence of being a believer: focusing on one's own relationship with Allah through prayer, while also carrying the responsibility for the spiritual well-being of one's family.
