Our Lord, and accept my prayer.

Rabbana wa taqabbal dua

When to Read

This is a profound supplication taught by Allah Himself to Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). It's an excellent dua to recite at any time, but particularly meaningful when you are making a significant request to Allah, seeking His acceptance of your worship, or at times of personal reflection like after completing a prayer, during Sujood (prostration), or when feeling a deep connection with your Creator.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, understanding that you are asking the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth to hear and answer. It's beautiful to say this in Arabic, as it's from the Qur'an. You can also say it in your own language, conveying the same heartfelt request: 'My Lord, please accept my prayer.' The key is the submission and hope in Allah's mercy.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a direct teaching from Allah in the Qur'an, making it incredibly powerful. When we ask Allah to 'accept our prayer,' we are acknowledging His power to hear and respond, and seeking His pleasure in our efforts to worship Him. It's a humble request that reflects our dependence on Him for the acceptance of all our deeds, not just formal supplications, but our entire way of life dedicated to Him. Prophet Ibrahim's (peace be upon him) request stems from his deep commitment to establishing the prayer and raising a righteous progeny, showing that accepting our efforts is vital for fulfilling our purpose.
