O Allah, grant me well-being in my sight. O Allah, grant me well-being in my hearing. O Allah, grant me well-being in my heart. O Allah, grant me well-being in my hearing. O Allah, grant me well-being in my sight. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You.

Allahumma 'afini fi basari, Allahumma 'afini fi sam'i, Allahumma 'afini fi qalbi, Allahumma 'afini fi sam'i, Allahumma 'afini fi basari. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-kufri wal-faqr. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhab al-qabri. La ilaha illa Anta.

When to Read

This is a comprehensive dua for overall well-being, including the protection of our senses like sight and hearing. It's excellent to recite this upon waking, before sleeping, or at any time we feel the need to seek Allah's protection for our physical and spiritual health. Making it a regular part of our morning and evening remembrance (Adhkar) ensures we are consistently asking Allah for His shield.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and full conviction in Allah's power to protect. Understand the meaning of each phrase, especially the plea for well-being ('afini) and seeking refuge ('audhu bika). Raise your hands slightly, as is the practice when making dua, and reflect on the blessings of sight and the potential dangers it can be exposed to, whether physical ailments or sin.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses a holistic request for protection. By asking for 'afiyah (well-being) in our sight, hearing, and heart, we are essentially asking Allah to safeguard these faculties from harm, both physical and spiritual. Protecting our sight is crucial, as it's through our eyes that we witness Allah's creation, learn, and are also susceptible to looking at what is displeasing to Him. Seeking refuge from disbelief and poverty addresses fundamental spiritual and material anxieties. Protection from the grave's punishment is a vital safeguard for our journey in the hereafter.

Source & Authentication

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge with these words: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi jahannama wa 'audhu bika min 'adhab al-qabr. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnat ad-dajjal. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hellfire, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. And I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Dajjal. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death.) (Note: The full hadith in Bukhari 6306 and Muslim 590 covers seeking refuge from Hellfire, the grave, the Dajjal, and the trials of life and death. The specific wording provided in the JSON is a variation found in Sunan Abi Dawud 5089, focusing on 'afiyah in senses and seeking refuge from disbelief, poverty, and grave punishment. Both are authentic ways of seeking Allah's protection).
