Guide us to the straight path.

Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqeem

When to Read

This is a fundamental verse recited in every rak'ah of the Salah. It's a constant, profound request to Allah for guidance throughout our daily prayers and, by extension, our lives. Reciting it in Salah reminds us to seek His direction in all our affairs, from the smallest decisions to the biggest life choices. Beyond prayer, this verse can be a personal supplication whenever you feel uncertain, lost, or simply wish to reaffirm your commitment to living a life pleasing to Allah.

How to Read

Recite this verse with sincerity and a humble heart, focusing on the meaning. In Salah, it's recited aloud in the first two rak'ahs for the Imam and silently for the follower (depending on the school of thought). When reciting it outside of prayer, raise your hands in supplication as taught by the Sunnah, facing the Qiblah if possible, and beseech Allah with earnestness.

Virtues & Benefits

This verse is the very essence of what we ask for in our prayers. Seeking the 'straight path' means asking Allah to guide us to His obedience, to the way of the Prophets and the righteous, and to keep us away from deviation and misguidance. It's a comprehensive request encompassing guidance in belief, actions, and ultimate destination. By consistently asking for this guidance, we are actively engaging with Allah, seeking His favor to keep us firm on the truth and protect us from error, ensuring our deeds are accepted and our journey in this life leads to success in the next.
