When to Read

This powerful supplication is recited by Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) in the Holy Quran, expressing his earnest desire for righteous children. We can turn to this dua whenever we pray for a family, or when we are seeking Allah's guidance to raise our children to be righteous and beneficial to society. It's particularly poignant during times of personal reflection or when seeking Allah's blessings for fertility and a pure lineage.

How to Read

Recite this verse with sincere intention and full conviction in Allah's ability to grant your request. Raise your hands in supplication, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Focus on the meaning of the words: acknowledging Allah as the ultimate granter, seeking offspring who are not just healthy but also 'tayyibah' – pure, good, and righteous. Repeat it consistently, with patience, trusting in Allah's perfect timing.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a direct supplication from a prophet of Allah, signifying its importance and effectiveness. By reciting it, we are emulating Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) and asking Allah for the ultimate blessing – children who will be a source of joy in this life and the hereafter. A righteous offspring is a continuous charity for their parents, even after they have passed away, as they continue to make dua for them and uphold their legacy of good deeds. This prayer emphasizes the importance of seeking not just any children, but those who are virtuous and pleasing to Allah.
