رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
My Lord, establish prayer upon me and [also] my offspring. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.
Rabbij'alni muqeemus-salati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du'a.
When to Read
This powerful dua from Surah Ibrahim is a beautiful supplication you can make at any time. It's especially poignant when you see your parents striving to uphold their prayers or other religious duties, or when you pray for their continued strength and acceptance in their worship. Making it after every obligatory prayer is also a highly recommended practice.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincere intention, directing your heart towards Allah. Picture your parents, envisioning them finding ease and joy in their connection with Allah. Raise your hands as you would during supplication and utter these words with humility and hope. Remember that sincere dua from a child for their parents is a significant act of worship.
Virtues & Benefits
This ayah is a timeless lesson from Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) on the importance of establishing prayer and seeking its continuation through our descendants. By reciting this, you are asking Allah not only to make you steadfast but also to grant your parents (as part of your lineage and those you care for) the ability to maintain their prayers and worship. It highlights the immense reward in supplicating for one's parents, a duty that continues even after their passing, as mentioned in Sahih Muslim.
