โœฆ

Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and our offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.

*Rabbana hablana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqeena imama*

When to Read

This dua is a beautiful supplication from the Quran itself, expressing a deep desire for righteous offspring and a life that pleases Allah. Parents navigating the profound challenges of infertility can recite this with sincerity and hope, asking Allah for the gift of children who will be a source of joy and guidance, and for their own lives to be an example of righteousness for them and for the wider community. It can be recited at any time, but especially during times of supplication like after prayers, during the last third of the night, or when making Umrah or Hajj.

How to Read

Recite this ayah with a sincere heart, focusing on the meaning and making a heartfelt plea to Allah. Remember that Allah loves those who ask Him. Combine this with other duas for fertility and patience, and maintain consistent efforts in seeking medical help if needed. It's also important to remember the immense blessings Allah has already bestowed upon us and to be grateful for them, as gratitude can be a key to unlocking more blessings.

Virtues & Benefits

This ayah encapsulates a comprehensive prayer: not only for children ('comfort to our eyes' โ€“ children who are righteous and bring happiness), but also for guidance and leadership in righteousness ('make us an example for the righteous'). It teaches us to focus on the quality of our progeny and our own spiritual standing. While there isn't a specific reward mentioned for reciting this exact ayah for infertility, the general principle in the Quran is that sincere dua is a powerful weapon for the believer. Allah says: 'And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."' (Quran 40:60). Furthermore, striving for righteous offspring is a continuous act of worship that benefits one in this life and the next.
