Dua for Parents' Successful Completion of Hajj/Umrah

Parents
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1349

O Allah, accept (this deed) from us and from them, complete the rites for them, protect them with Your protection, make their Hajj a blessed one, their efforts appreciated, their sins forgiven, and return them to their families safe and victorious.

Allahumma taqabbal minna wa minhum, wa atimm lahumul manasika, wahfadhhum bi-hifdhika, waj'al hajja-hum mabrooran, wa sa'yahum mashkooran, wa dhunoobahum maghfoorah, wa a'idhum ila ahlihim salimeena ghanimeen.

When to Read

This dua is perfect to recite as your parents embark on their Hajj or Umrah journey, or even while they are there. You can say it when bidding them farewell, before they leave home, or at any time you make dua for them. It's a beautiful way to express your love and seek Allah's blessings for their spiritual endeavor.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and heartfelt emotion. Face the Qiblah if possible, raise your hands, and make sincere supplication. Focus on the meaning of each word, envisioning your parents performing their rituals safely and acceptably. Ensure you pronounce the Arabic correctly, or read the transliteration carefully if you are not yet fluent. The most important aspect is the presence of your heart and your genuine desire for their well-being and acceptance of their worship.

Virtues & Benefits

Making dua for others, especially for their acts of worship, is a highly recommended practice. When your parents undertake Hajj or Umrah, they are performing a pillar of Islam and undertaking a significant spiritual journey. By supplicating for their acceptance, safety, and forgiveness, you are actively participating in their reward. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is readily answered. An angel is stationed by his head, and every time he supplicates for his brother, the angel says: Ameen, and may the like be for you.' (Sahih Muslim 2106). This not only benefits your parents but also brings blessings upon you. Furthermore, a Hajj Mabroor, one that is accepted by Allah, has immense rewards, as the Prophet ﷺ stated: 'There is no reward for an accepted Hajj except Paradise.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 1773, Sahih Muslim 1349). By making this dua, you are seeking these immense blessings for them.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The deeds of the people of the first generation (of Muslims) were presented before me, and also the deeds of the last generation. I found the deeds of the former superior to the deeds of the latter. Then I saw the deeds of the last generation, and I found a goodness in them. Then I saw the deeds of the people of the generation of the present time, and I found a goodness in them. Then I saw the deeds of the people of the time of the Hour, and it was a terrible time. Then Allah said, 'O Muhammad! This is my Ummah; so they will have goodness and evil in them.' Allah said, 'We will bring them back to the truth.' I said, 'O Allah! Accept from us and from them; and complete for them the rituals, and protect them by Your protection, and make their Hajj a blessed one, and their efforts appreciated, and their sins forgiven, and return them to their families safe and victorious.'"
