Dua for Parents' Steadfastness in Faith

Parents
QuranQuran 3:8

Our Lord, do not make our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka antal-Wahhab.

When to Read

This profound supplication is for any time we feel concern for our parents' spiritual well-being. It's especially poignant during difficult times, or when we observe any wavering in their commitment to faith. We can make this dua after prayers, during the blessed hours of the day, or whenever the thought comes to our mind.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and deep humility, focusing on Allah's power and mercy. Picture your parents in your mind's eye as you supplicate. It is most powerful when made with conviction, believing that Allah hears and will answer in the best way for them. Making it a consistent part of your daily remembrance (dhikr) can be very impactful.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, revealed in the Quran itself, is a direct plea to Allah to keep our loved ones firm on the path of guidance. It acknowledges that steadfastness is a gift from Allah (Al-Wahhab, The Bestower). By asking for mercy alongside guidance, we are asking for Allah's continuous support and protection for our parents' hearts. It reflects our deep care for their akhirah (afterlife) and seeks to preserve the blessings of Islam in their lives, which in turn benefits us as their children.
