اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need need anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

This is a powerful dua to recite when you or your parents are facing debt or financial difficulties. It's especially potent when you feel the weight of financial stress and have sincerely turned to Allah for help. Make it a regular part of your supplications, particularly after obligatory prayers.

How to Read

Recite this dua with a sincere heart, full conviction in Allah's power, and a humble spirit. Raise your hands in supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible, and pour out your needs to Allah. Ensure you are in a state of purity (Wudu). It's also beneficial to first recite Istighfar (seeking Allah's forgiveness) and send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua was taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) when he asked for something to ask from Allah. The Prophet ﷺ promised that if one recited this dua regularly, Allah would suffice them and clear their debts. It directly addresses the root of financial worry by asking for lawful means and independence from need, fostering contentment and trust in Allah's provision.

Source & Authentication

Al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, I want to ask for something." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "What is it?" He said: "I want to ask for wealth." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Abbas! Indeed, wealth is not a passing thing, rather it is a sustenance that has a decreed portion, and the wealth of the believer is for him in the hereafter. Shall I not teach you a dua that will benefit you and those whom you command, and your grandchildren?" Al-Abbas said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion and my worldly affairs, for my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my private parts and make me feel secure from my fear. O Allah, preserve me from the front and from behind, from the right and from the left, and from above. I seek refuge in Your might, that I be overthrown from beneath me." Then he said: "O Abbas! The one who asks for my deeds will be forgiven, the one who asks for sustenance will be sufficed, the one who asks for a daughter will be given a daughter, the one who asks for a son will be given a son, the one who asks for wealth will be given wealth, and the one who asks for my intercession will be granted my intercession. The one who asks for my status will be given my status." Al-Abbas said: "O Messenger of Allah, teach me the dua for sustenance." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Say: Allahumma Akfini bi halaalika 'an haraamik, wa aghnini bi fadlika 'amman siwaak." (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need anyone other than You).
