When to Read

This dua can be recited at any time, especially during your daily supplications. It's particularly poignant to recite it during times of difficulty, when you feel concerned for your parents' well-being, or after any event that might cause them distress or despair. Make it a habit to include your parents in your prayers, asking Allah to shield them from all forms of spiritual and physical harm.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, picturing your parents in your mind and directing your supplication towards Allah. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, facing the Qiblah, and raising your hands. Begin by praising Allah and sending Salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ. Utter the words clearly and thoughtfully, focusing on the meaning and the immense power of Allah's protection. Repeat it multiple times for emphasis, as persistence in dua is a virtue. Remember that the intention and sincerity behind the dua are paramount.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking Allah's protection for our parents is a profound act of kindness and obedience. It acknowledges their immense sacrifices and our responsibility towards them, even after they may have raised us. By asking Allah to shield them from despair and evil, we are essentially praying for their peace of mind, spiritual strength, and physical health. This dua encompasses protection from the whisperings of Shaytan, which can lead to doubt, anxiety, and despair. It also seeks Allah's comprehensive well-being ('afiyah) in both life and the hereafter. The Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ said: 'When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: a Sadaqah Jariyah, knowledge that is benefited from, or a righteous child who prays for them.' (Sahih Muslim 1631). Praying for your parents' protection is a vital part of being a righteous child, ensuring their spiritual well-being and our connection to them continues.
