โœฆ

Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day the account is established.

Rabbana-ghfir li wa liwalidayya wa lil-mu'mineena yawma yaqoomul hisaab

When to Read

This powerful supplication is a cornerstone for anyone seeking to honor their parents, both in this life and the Hereafter. It's particularly fitting to recite after obligatory prayers, during personal supplications (duas), or at any moment you feel moved to pray for your parents' well-being and Allah's pleasure upon them. You can make it a habit to say it regularly, ensuring their continuous remembrance in your prayers.

How to Read

Recite this ayah with sincerity and a humble heart. Visualize your parents, living or deceased, and genuinely feel the need for Allah's mercy and forgiveness for them. When you say 'li' (for me), include yourself. When you say 'wa liwalidayya' (and for my parents), remember them with love and gratitude. Finally, when you say 'wa lil-mu'mineen' (and for the believers), broaden your scope of prayer for the entire Ummah. The intention behind the dua is paramount.

Virtues & Benefits

This ayah encapsulates a profound responsibility and immense reward. By reciting it, you actively fulfill the command to be good to your parents (Al-Isra 17:23-24) and extend Allah's mercy to them. It ensures their mention in your prayers, which continues to benefit them even after they have passed away. This dua is a bridge between generations, linking your current actions to their eternal well-being and seeking Allah's ultimate justice and grace on the Day of Judgment for everyone.
