Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except for three: an ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.' Then he mentioned this dua: 'The believer is raised in status in Paradise and asks, "O Lord, how did I attain this?" He is told: "Through your children's prayers for your forgiveness."' (Sunan Abi Dawud 1534, Musnad Ahmad 9245). This version is graded as Hasan by many scholars.
