โœฆ

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house as a believer and the believing men and women.

Rabbighfir li waliwalidayya wa liman dakhala baytiya mu'minan wa lilmu'minina walmu'minat

When to Read

This comprehensive dua is incredibly valuable and can be recited at any time, particularly during the times when supplications are more likely to be accepted, such as after prayers, during the last third of the night, between the Adhan and Iqamah, or when making Umrah or Hajj. It's especially fitting to remember our parents with this supplication during times of reflection or when we feel a need to connect with Allah for their sake.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, directing your supplication to Allah alone. Visualize your parents, alive or deceased, and feel the weight of your love and responsibility towards them. Raise your hands in supplication if you are in a personal setting where this is appropriate. Ensure you understand the meaning of the words you are uttering, allowing them to permeate your heart.

Virtues & Benefits

This verse from Surah Nuh is a profound supplication that encompasses forgiveness not just for ourselves and our parents, but also for all believers. By including our parents, we fulfill a significant duty they have upon us. Allah says in the Quran: 'And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] in your care, say not to them [so much as] 'uff' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy on them even as they cared for me when I was small.'' (Al-Isra 17:23-24). This dua directly taps into that divine command, seeking mercy for them and acknowledging their sacrifices.
