โœฆ

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair [i.e., all our affairs] correctness.

Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi' lana min amrina rashada.

When to Read

This dua is incredibly powerful for a new marriage, as it directly asks Allah for mercy and guidance in navigating the early stages. Recite it regularly, especially during times of uncertainty or when feelings of insecurity arise between you and your spouse. Make it a habit to say it together after prayers, or individually during sujud (prostration).

How to Read

As with all supplications, sincerity is key. Raise your hands (if praying individually and in a place where it's appropriate) and turn your heart towards Allah. Utter the words with conviction, truly believing in His ability to grant you mercy and to guide your marriage towards what is righteous and good. Imagine Allah's divine plan unfolding for your union, filled with blessings and ease.

Virtues & Benefits

This verse from Surah Al-Kahf is a profound supplication for seeking divine assistance in all matters. For a new marriage, it specifically calls upon Allah to bestow His boundless mercy, which is the ultimate source of comfort, healing, and strength. It also asks for 'rashadan' โ€“ correctness, guidance, and a well-ordered path. In a marriage, this translates to building a relationship that is pleasing to Allah, founded on mutual understanding, respect, and a shared journey towards Him. By asking for mercy, we acknowledge our human weaknesses and the potential for misunderstandings, while asking for guidance ensures that our steps together are aligned with divine wisdom.
