I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger. O Allah, make me of those who turn to You in repentance and make me of those who purify themselves.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When any one of you performs ablution (in his house), and completes it, and then comes out to the mosque, Allah writes for him, for every step he takes, a degree; and He blots out from him, with regard to the previous sin, another sin. When he enters the mosque, he is in a state of prayer as long as he is prevented from sitting. And the angels invoke blessings on each one of you as long as he remains in the place where he prayed, saying: O Allah, have mercy on him! O Allah, forgive him! O Allah, accept his repentance! So long as he does not harm others and is not guilty of evil conduct.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 174) *Note: While the full hadith discusses coming to the mosque, the specific dua itself is related to the act of purification and is often cited in the context of exiting the toilet. The principle of seeking purification and renewal of faith is applicable.*
