غُفْرَانَكَ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ عَنِّي الْأَذَى وَعَافَانِي
"O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness. All praise is due to Allah, Who removed from me the annoyance and granted me well-being."
Ghufraanak, al-hamdulillahi alladhi adh-haba 'anni al-adha wa 'aafani
When to Read
Recite this dua immediately after exiting the bathroom (toilet/lavatory). This is a moment of transition, moving from a place of physical cleansing to re-engaging with the world, and it's beautiful how the Prophet ﷺ taught us to remember Allah at such a simple, yet significant, juncture.
How to Read
Recite the dua with sincerity and presence of mind. Reflect on the two key elements: seeking Allah's forgiveness and acknowledging His immense blessings in removing discomfort and granting health. The first part, 'Ghufraanak' (I seek Your forgiveness), acknowledges our shortcomings and reliance on Allah's mercy, while the second part, 'Alhamdulillahi alladhi adh-haba 'anni al-adha wa 'aafani' (All praise is due to Allah, Who removed from me the annoyance and granted me well-being), is a powerful expression of gratitude for physical comfort and health that we often take for granted.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua connects two profound acts of worship: seeking forgiveness and expressing gratitude. By seeking Allah's forgiveness, we purify our spiritual state. By thanking Allah for removing physical discomfort and granting us well-being, we acknowledge His constant care and provision in our daily lives. This simple act reminds us that even the most mundane aspects of our existence are opportunities to connect with our Creator and seek His continued blessings. It cultivates humility and thankfulness, qualities that open doors to further bounty from Allah.
