When to Read

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and presence of mind as you step out of the bathroom. The act of seeking forgiveness acknowledges our human imperfections, while praising Allah for a basic necessity that we often take for granted.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses two powerful acts: seeking Allah's forgiveness and expressing gratitude. By saying 'Ghufranak' (I seek Your forgiveness), we acknowledge our dependence on Allah and ask for His mercy. The second part, 'Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi adh-haba 'annil-adha wa 'afani' (All praise is due to Allah, Who removed from me the harm and relieved me), is a profound expression of thanks for a basic bodily function and the comfort it brings. It reminds us to be thankful for even the simplest of blessings, which are in reality, immense gifts from our Creator.
